ADF Welcomes Quinn Whisler To The Team
We’re excited to welcome Quinn Whisler to the ADF Engineering team!
Quinn graduated from The University of Dayton (UD) in May of 2024 with a BS in Chemical Engineering with a Minor in Sustainability, Energy, and Environment. While at UD, Quinn learned Excel, VBA, Solidworks, Comsol, Python, and Microsoft PowerPoint. In addition to her academic studies, Quinn was a member of AIChE, The BBQ Club, University of Dayton Irish Dance Team, and “Red Scare,” the student section for all UD sports, including supporting men’s basketball, women’s soccer, and club rugby.
Quinn not only focused on her academic pursuits while at UD, but she also held the positions of Desk Assistant and Teaching Assistant in Applied Math for Chemical Engineers in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering. Additionally, Quinn worked with Dr. Amy Ciric researching the vaporization of ethanol to cool vaccines in countries that do not have reliable access to electricity.
Quinn also was a Process Engineering Intern at Koppers performing a variety of functions including redlining P&IDs for updates by cross referencing them with field equipment, performing root cause analysis, interpreting real-time graphs on plant control screens to test decanter cycling, and organizing digitized paper files for company-wide document-sharing.
Quinn cut her own path by following her personal interests by working during the summer of 2023 in Yellowstone National Park. There she learned about the Greater Yellowstone ecology and geology Ecosystems through guides, rangers, reading, and firsthand experiences. Quinn also learned skills in backcountry hiking,
camping, and the “leave no trace” practice of keeping the land as she found it, all useful knowledge in the pristine and remote wilderness of Yellowstone, a far-cry and world away from the familiarity of the UD Campus she left behind.
Having her appetite peaked for new experiences and knowledge by her time at Yellowstone, Quinn earned her “Wilderness First Responder Certification” in June of 2024 through the NOLS Wilderness Medicine program in Northbrook, Illinois.
Through this program, Quinn learned and practiced advanced first aid, wound care, spinal injury precautions, evacuation guidelines, the use of Epinephrine Auto-injectors; Adult, Child, and Infant CPR; how to use AEDs, and Airway Management Certification.
Needless to say, Quinn is a great person to have around if the need for these services is ever necessary!
Not satisfied with following a traditional transition from college graduation to full-time professional employment, Quinn worked in a public-facing role on a high-end cruise ship restaurant in Chicago from August of 2024 through May of 2025 where she won a “Front of House Most Valuable Professional” award.
While in this position, Quinn experienced a daily “test of fire” as she endeavored to meet the demands of face-to-face customer interactions. Navigating the tight confines of the busy cruise ship has given Quinn a head start in safely maneuvering through the industrial plant environments of ADF’s client facilities.
It was evident when Quinn interviewed with ADF in the Spring of 2025 that her hard-won customer service experiences would be adaptable to providing exceptional customer service to the engineering clients of ADF.
Quinn’s many and varied interpersonal communication experiences came through in her interviews and indicated strong team-based collaborative skills. Coupled with Quinn’s academic credentials, ADF was convinced that Quinn would be a powerful and adaptable addition to its professional staff. Quinn accepted her position at ADF in late April of 2025 and started working at ADF on June 17 of this year.
ADF looks forward to Quinn’s contributions to its Leadership Development Group and having a positive influence on company culture based upon her varied and diverse life experiences and interests. Quinn and Matthew Buzek were classmates at the UD, and we want to acknowledge and thank Matthew for his endorsement of ADF with Quinn.
